Winburn, Dodge, Nordstrom all conclude successful seasons

Well, it’s that time of the season again. With the all winter sports having concluded their playoff runs, it’s time to look at our teams’ trips to the postseason. 

Boys Swimming (Updated 3/3)

Boys Swimming wrapped up their successful season at the New York State Championship, with Dylan Nordstrom representing Section 1 at the meet. In the 200 yard freestyle, Nordstrom placed 32nd, with a time of 1:46.10. In the 500 freestyle, he placed 33rd, with a time of 4:51.39.

Boys and Girls Track and Field (Updated 3/3)

Pelham Track and Field concluded an incredibly successful season this past weekend at the NYSPHSAA championships. Zoe Winburn and Claudia Dodge each qualified to compete for Section 1. Winburn cleared 4 feet, 8 inches, and ended up placing 28th. Meanwhile, Dodge ran a 1:43.28 600 meter run, and ended placing 26th overall. Winburn will be back again to compete in the spring, while Dodge will join the girls lacrosse team for her final season.

Ice Hockey (Updated 2/24)

On Saturday at the Sport-o-Rama in Monsey, New York, the PMHS hockey team fell by a score of 5-1 to John Jay Cross River. Junior Cameron Klienberger scored the lone goal for the Pelicans. The Pelicans conclude this season with a 9-11-2 record. John Jay will advance to the regional games of the state tournament, and will play the at-large bid from Section 6.

Girls Basketball (Updated 2/24)

On Saturday, the PMHS girls basketball team concluded a highly successful season with a close loss to the 2nd seeded Walter Panas. The Pelicans fell by a final score of 43 to 35. Panas will advance to play 6 seed Somers, who upset the Byram Bobcats also on Saturday. The team ends the season with a record of 13 and 9. 

Boys Basketball (Updated 2/17)

After an up and down season, the boys basketball team’s hopes came to an end when they lost to the Pearl River Pirates on Saturday. The Pelicans finished the season with a record of 8 wins and 12 losses. The Pirates will now move on to face the Poughkeepsie Pioneers, the 1 seed in the Class A tournament.
