Pelham’s Neal Huff, now in Broadway’s ‘To Kill a Mockingbird,’ in talk at TMC Monday

Pelham’s Neal Huff of Broadway’s “To Kill A Mockingbird” will talk about his acting career with journalist Magee Hickey of WPIX 11 at The Manor Club (TMC) on Monday, May 6 at 7:30pm.  The community is invited to attend.

Mr. Huff plays Link Deas in “To Kill a Mockingbird,” which has received rave reviews. Link Deas is the employer of Tom Robinson, the black field hand accused of rape and defended by Atticus Finch. One reviewer described Neal Huff’s Link Deas as “a book character absent from the movie but offering a surprising viewpoint found nowhere else in this tale.

Mr. Huff received his MFA from the Graduate Acting Program at New York University.[1]  Off-Broadway he has appeared in The Foreigner (2004) and The Little Dog Laughed (2006). He has appeared on Broadway in revivals of The Tempest(1995) and The Lion in Winter (1999) and the Tony Award-winning Take Me Out (2003).  Last spring, he played opposite Denzel Washington in The Iceman Cometh.

His screen credits include The Wedding Banquet (1993), Big Daddy(1999), The Good Shepherd (2006), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), and Moonrise Kingdom He also stars in the director/writer Kimberly Levin’s independent film Runoff (2012) and Spotlight, which won the Oscar for best picture of 2015.

On television he has been featured in Law & OrderThe WireSix Degrees, Fringe, Billions, and God Friend Me.

His parents, Steve and Ursla Huff, are longtime Pelham residents.

Magee Hickey is an Emmy Award-winning reporter who has covered most of the big stories in the tri-state area in the past 25 years. She is known for her bright red hair, her warmth and her bubbly personality. Her sister, Liz Lavin, lives in Pelham.

Ms. Hickey is a native New Yorker, born in Brooklyn and raised on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. She attended The Convent of the Sacred Heart and The Chapin School. She graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island and that’s where she began her television news career. At WLNE-TV, Magee made a name for herself by going undercover as a hooker to rid a nice residential neighborhood of prostitution. In New York City she has worked at WNEW, WABC.and  WCBS. At WCBS, she got up to 2 a.m. to cover the news of the day—a schedule that allowed her time to raise her two daughters and to care for her aging and ailing parents.

 

In recent years, she has organized cabaret fundraisers with her sister Liz for the Lawrence F. Hickey Center for Child Development, a school founded by their late father, for special needs children in the Bronx.

 

She is also an accomplished classical flutist and is organizing a troupe of newscasters and other performers to visit schools, nursing homes and hospitals in the tri-state area.
