Barbara Fraser Lawlor – April 30

Barbara Fraser Lawlor, 93, beloved wife of the late William J. Lawlor passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on April 30 after a long battle with cancer.

Barbara was born and raised in Mt.Vernon, NY and graduated from Barnard College in 1947. She lived in Pelham for 59 years. She is survived by her four children, Barbara (William) Jahnes, Patricia Murphy, Susan (Brent) Howard, William (Cynthia) Lawlor and her sister, Eleanor Heusner. She has 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by them as well as her nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Barbara retired from the Pelham School system after 46 years as a teaching assistant and substitute teacher. She was a member of the Manor Club, a Director, and chaired the Manor Matinee for more than 20 years. As a member of Huguenot Memorial Church for over 50 years she served as a Stephen minister, Deacon for 12 years and Elder for 11 years. She was also a member of the Women’s Society, the Building and Grounds Committee and the church’s bell ringers.

Barbara’s hobbies included knitting, crossword puzzles, bridge, bowling and traveling. She was an avid fan of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune . She enjoyed spending time with her family and spent part of over 80 summers on Long Beach Island, NJ with them.

A visitation will be held at the Pelham Funeral Home, 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, NY, Friday May 10th, between 5 and 7 pm. A memorial service will end held Saturday May 11th at 11 am. Barbara will be inurned at the Huguenot Columbarium after the service.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in memory of Barbara F. Lawlor to Huguenot Memorial Church or the American Cancer Society.
