Well, it’s that time of the season again. With all the spring sports in the process of wrapping up their respective regular seasons, let’s take a look where they stand.

Boys Spring Track (Updated 5/25):

This past weekend at the Class B Championship, the boys team, led by Charlie Miske, competed at a high level of competition. Miske ran a personal best of 10:38 in the 3200 meter run, and competed in the 4×400 meter relay as well as the 1500 m run. Michael Salama ran personal bests as well in the 200 m dash and the 400 m dash.

Girls Spring Track (Updated 5/25):

On the girls side of the competition at the Class B Championship, Charlotte Howard led the way. Placing 6th in the triple jump, her main event, she also made the finals, placed 5th, ran a new personal best of 27.41 seconds in the 200 m dash, and ran the second leg for the 6th place 4×100 team. Also earning points for the Pelicans were Zoe Winburn, placing 5th in the high jump, Peyton Rees, placing 3rd in shotput, and Nora Tahbaz, Luca Rivera, and Violet Massie-Vereker, all of whom also ran the 4×100. Several Pelicans are expecting to qualify to compete at the sectional championships this Thursday and Friday.

Softball (Updated 5/25):

Wrapping up their postseason appearance, the Pelicans lost narrowly to top seeded Lakeland. With a 1-1 tie at the end of 7 innings, the game went to extras, and eventually resulted in Lakeland hitting a walkoff home run. Lakeland will now advance to play Tappan Zee today.

Boys Golf (Updated 5/23):

After day two of sectionals, Aidan Bennett finished tied for 18th. He shot an 86 on Wednesday, and his combined score was a 166. He was also named to the all-section team.

Boys Lacrosse (Updated 5/21):

In an attempt to mimic the upset victory in last year’s Class C final, PMHS boys lacrosse came up short. By a score of 16-3, the Pelicans hopes to repeat as section champions came to an end. Connor Evans, Grey Allen and Bobby Krumme each netted a goal, but it wasn’t enough to overpower the dominating offense of the Rye Garnets. The Pelicans ended the year with a record of 7-11. The Garnets will face Byram Hills in the section finals.

Girls Golf (Updated 5/21):

Unfortunately, in the second season of girls golf at PMHS, no golfers qualified for sectionals this week. The team finished this season with a 7-3 record on the year.

Rugby (Updated 5/19):

In a season where the storyline has been absolute dominance, the dominance was shown again on Sunday at Iona. With yet another shut out victory, the Pelicans obliterated Bishop Laughlin in a regional playoff game by a score of 87-0. By virtue of this win, the Pelicans, undefeated in league play, will travel to Binghamton on June 1 and 2 to compete in the state finals as the number one seed.

Girls Lacrosse (Updated 5/19):

With a narrow loss to Tappan Zee by a score of 9-8, the Pelicans were eliminated from the playoffs over the weekend. Claudia Dodge scored four times, Sidney Skop scored three times and Grayce Cooper scored once, with Molly Terraciano making 11 saves in the net.  The Pelicans end their season with a 13-5 record including playoff games. Tappan Zee will take on Rye in the semifinals.

Baseball (Updated 5/19):

After dropping the final game of the season to Rye, the Pelicans failed to make the top-20 cut for playoffs in Class A. They finish out the year with a record of 4-16.

Unified Basketball (Updated 5/14):

Pelham took a victory today with a 41-37 overtime win over Horace Greeley at PMHS. They will attend the culmination event at John Jay-Cross River next week.

Boys Tennis (Updated 5/13):

The PMHS boys tennis team narrowly lost out on a playoff appearance to rival Rye, losing the league championship by a close margin as well.
