Dear Readers,

Poetry has served as both an outlet for frustration and fuel for the imagination over the centuries. But unless you’re actively looking for poetry, you don’t see much of it in daily life. That’s why I’d like to introduce to you the Poetry section of the Pelham Examiner.

How It Works

Every month, the section will have a new theme, ranging in variety from flowers to cities to breakfast foods. The poems will come from you, our readers. Please submit! There is no age requirement. Choose any style you like. Write the poem that needs to be written. Robert Frost said, “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” Please share your thoughts. We’ll publish poems on the first, seventh and twentieth of the month after submission.

How to Submit

Submission is simple. Just email your work to [email protected] with “Poetry Submission” in the subject. Sharing a piece of poetry is like sharing a piece of your soul; if you’d prefer to be anonymous, include that in your email. We will need to confirm each submission with the author.

The theme for September is Storms. Poems are due by Aug. 24.

Thank you!
