SUNDAY CINEMA RETURNS TO TPH WITH POWERFUL DOCUMENTARY THE LONG SHADOW

Sunday, September 23rd and 30th; 8:00 p.m.

September 21, 2018 – Pelham, NY – Sunday Cinema at The Picture House Regional Film Center (TPH) returns on Sunday, September 23rd at 8:00 p.m. with a screening of the powerful new documentary The Long Shadow. Sunday Cinema at TPH features important and timely, yet less-recognized films—the type often reserved for the theater’s 14-seat Screening Room— each Sunday in the Main Hall at 8:00 p.m.

When filmmaker and investigative journalist Frances Causey, a daughter of the South, set out to explore the continuing racial divisions in the United States, what she discovered was that the politics of slavery didn’t end with the Civil War. In an astonishingly candid look at the United States’ original sin, The Long Shadow traces slavery’s history from America’s founding up through its insidious ties to racism today.

The Long Shadow is a perfect example of the less recognizable films I seek out for the Screening Room,” said Clayton Bushong, Director of Programming at The Picture House. “There are so many terrific and engaging independent, documentary, and foreign films being made and released these days and with Sunday Cinema we can put them in the spotlight and bring them to a wider audience.”

Tickets to the Sunday Cinema screening of The Long Shadow are $12/general admission, $10/students, seniors, and members and are available at www.thepicturehouse.org or at the box office, 175 Wolfs Lane, Pelham, NY 10803.
