Editor’s note: this press release has been provided by the Pelham School District

Elementary School parents are invited to attend one of two Pelham Public Schools Parent
Math/Literacy Nights on Thursday, October 11 (Gr. K-2) at Siwanoy School and Thursday,
October 18 (Gr. 3-5) at Colonial School. Each event will run from 7-8:15 pm.

At both events, Dr. Maria Thompson, director of humanities, Julie Liebersohn, reading teacher
and K-5 literacy coordinator, Dr. Thomas Callahan director of K-12 math and science and Beth
Finkelstein, elementary math staff developer, will provide parents with grade-specific tips to help
students with reading, writing and math at home.

“These events are great opportunities to learn about how reading, writing and math are taught
in our schools and the progress we have made in creating common units of study and
experiences for students,” said Dr. Thompson. “This is a window into the curriculum that is
taught in the classroom every day.”

Parents are asked to RSVP by sending an email to [email protected] or
[email protected] that specifies which event and how many adults will be
attending.

This is an adult only event.
