Playoff time is now upon us, seeding meetings are taking place and PMHS sports teams are receiving their first round match ups. This article will be updated when the rest of the seeds are set out, and playoff progress will be tracked for each team here too, so be sure to check back when you can.

Cross Country (Updated 11/5):

Under terrible conditions at Bowdoin, Pelham Cross Country competed for the final time this season. The girls were led by senior Grace Miske, who placed 28th, with a time of 22:15.30, and junior Morgan Sample, who placed 45th, running a time of 23:39.20. On the boys’ side, the team was led by a 28th place finish from seniors Henry Driesen in a time of 18:54.50, and Charlie Miske, who placed 38th in 19:16.

Girls Swimming (Updated 11/5)

On Monday, at the Section One Diving Championships, Pelham senior Jennifer Bell punched her ticket to return to the State Championships once again. Bell racked up 524.75 points, beating out her top competitor by just under 25 points. Senior Lucy Bischof and 8th grader Alexandra Bastone both also qualified, with Bastone making it for both the 200 freestyle and the 500 freestyle, and Bischof making it for the 50 freestyle.

Volleyball (Updated 10/30);

A five set thriller against 4 seed Panas resulted in a Pelham 3-2 loss, ending their season. The Pelicans won the first and third sets, but a rally late in the fifth unfortunately came up just short. The Pelicans drop to 14 and 5 on the season. Panas will now move on to face the 1 seed, undefeated Hendrick Hudson.

Field Hockey (Updated 10/25):

In what may have been the closest fought game all season for the Pelican’s, the girls fell to John Jay-Cross River by a score of 3-2. Jenna Letizia and Jane Dunbar each scored a goal in the loss. Lindsay McNamara and the defense held up well, but in the end, the offensive pressure from John Jay tied, and eventually took the lead from the Pelicans. This concludes what has been truly a remarkable season for the team, ending the season with 15 wins and a mere 3 losses. John Jay will now move on to Brewster on Saturday, where they will play Lakeland, who is looking to continue on the path to their tenth straight state title.

Football (Updated 10/20):

Disappointingly, the Pelicans finished 2nd in League E, losing to Pearl River. According to playoff rules, the winner of League E is automatically seeded as the 16th and final seed in Class A playoffs, so the Pelicans missed out on the postseason. Instead, they finished the season with a bowl schedule, beating Peekskill for the second time this year, 31-18. On Saturday, they played in the Bowl Series I final against Eastchester, losing 31-6 and dropping their record to 6-2.

Boys Soccer (Updated 10/19):

Jon Giralomo scored his third goal in two games in the Pelicans 3-1 loss to 5 seed Pearl River on Friday. This eliminates the Pelicans from further playoff contention, and including the outbracket win against Yonkers, moves their record to 10-8.

Girls Soccer (Updated 10/19):

Pelham’s girls soccer lost to 9 seed Horace Greeley on Friday, with a score of 5-2.  Maeve Parmelee and Alison Emery each scored once in the loss. This eliminates the Pelicans from further playoff contention, and their record drops to 6-11.
