Douglas W. Lifrieri – Nov. 7

Douglas W. Lifrieri of Mount Vernon, New York, passed away on Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2018. He was 85 years old. Douglas was born in Parkchester, New York, on Nov. 24, 1933. He was raised in Mount Vernon, where he attended local schools.

After graduating from high school, Douglas would enroll in the United States Air Force. He proudly served his country in the Korean War. Upon his return home from the war, Douglas would earn his credentials as a plumber. He worked his way up as manager of Local 86 before becoming a business agent for Local 299. He was also a member of Local 21.

Douglas was a social man with a lot of friends. He always knew where to find a good meal and knew the maitre d of every restaurant on a first-name basis. He had a wonderful sense of humor and had a nickname for everyone he met.

Douglas will be remembered as a truthful and kind gentle man, a hard worker and was always there to help a friend in need.

Douglas is survived by many cousins and friends.

A celebration of Douglas’s life took place at the Pelham Funeral Home, located at 64 Lincoln Ave., Pelham, New York, on Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial took place at St. Catherine’s Church, located at 25 Second Ave., Pelham, New York, on Wednesday, Nov. 14, at 10 a.m. Interment followed at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
