(PELHAM, NOVEMBER 12, 2018). Life is too important not to be prepared. For this very reason, the Rotary Club of the Pelhams once again sponsored an American Heart Association CPR Course on Wednesday November 7th. And when you bring three Pelham entities together for the good of Pelham, the result bounds to be a success. So Pelham Rotary… teamed up with the Village of Pelham Fire Department… at Pelham Memorial High School… for Pelham students and staff.

One of the primary missions of the Rotary Club of the Pelhams – as its theme line describes – is to provide “life-saving initiatives around the corner and around the world”. So in addition to its hosting of children from developing countries in need of cardiac surgery… and contributing to medical missions to travel and heal hearts in those countries…they once again provided students and staff of PMHS with a free American Heart Association Certified 3-hour CPR course in the Blue Gym at Pelham Memorial High School. (In addition, each attendee received a certificate, instructional booklet, and their own personal pocket mask for the CPR procedure). Administering the course were Pelham Firefighters Frank Bellantoni and Tim Frusciante. These expert EMT/CPR instructors presented a comprehensive course that included education of an AED (Automatic Electronic Defibrillator), hands-on drills for adults, children, and infants, all integrated with a comprehensive video.

On a personal note, it was extremely gratifying to see that over 25 years ago I was the Baseball and Soccer Coach for these two Pelham Firefighters, who went through the Pelham School System, and then became career firefighters, protecting the families and individuals of their home town of Pelham.

Special thanks to Pelham Memorial High School’s Jeannine Clark, Cathy Blank and Judy Medina for their continued cooperation.
