Pelham Blue 9U takes fall baseball championship with 3-1 win over A-game Kings

The Pelham Blue 9U Fall Baseball team capped off a great fall season by winning the championship on Sunday November 4th at Friendship field.  Pelham first needed to beat a tough YBNR team to advance to the finals.  Pelham was able to beat YBNR 10-2 behind stellar pitching from Jonathan Starvatow and Theo Moss.  The offense was lead by Theo Moss, Jake Zaber and Gavin Keating collecting 3 hits a piece.  The defense was stellar, highlighted by turning a 1-3-2 double play by Theo Moss (P), Jake Zaber 1B)  and Jonathan Starvatow (C).  With the win, Pelham advanced to play A-game Kings in the championship.

The championship was an intense, low scoring game that had fans on the edge of their seats.  Pitching was lead by Gavin Keating and Jake Zaber, totaling 16 strikeouts between them and only one earned run.  With the score tied at 1 in the top of the 6th inning, Jake Zaber hit a 2 run homerun to put Pelham out in front.  A perfect bottom of the 6th inning sealed the 3-1 victory and the championship for Pelham Blue.
