Dear Parents:

Kindergarten registration for the Pelham Class of 2032 will begin on January 29 & 30, 2019 (see schedule below). Your child is eligible to attend kindergarten next year if he or she will be five years old on or before December 31, 2019.

If you are planning to register your child to attend Pelham schools for the 2019-2020 academic school year, we would like to invite you to meet with the Central Office Registrar and one of our school nurses to submit your completed registration forms and provide the necessary information needed to successfully register your child. It is not necessary for you to bring your child with you to registration. Please be advised that registration forms received by mail will not be
accepted.

It is essential that all parents/guardians register their children IN PERSON, present the completed registration application forms and bring all ORIGINAL documents to registration. Please note that some forms must be notarized. In order to avoid delays in your child’s registration, please be sure to have the necessary documents notarized prior to your registration date.

Mandatory registration forms and detailed information can be found on our district website www.pelhamschools.org. This information is available under the PARENTS & COMMUNITY tab. Hard copies of all of our forms can be obtained from the Central Office as well.

Please be sure to complete all of the appropriate health forms. In accordance with NY State law, children entering public schools must be immunized.

Registration will take place according to the school that your child will be attending in the fall, at Alumni Hall, located on the ground floor of Pelham Memorial High School. Any parent/guardian who cannot be present on their designated day may make an appointment with our school Registrar, Kim McGreal, at 914-738-3434 ext. 1211. Unless prior arrangements are made, exceptions will not be made to the following schedule.

January 29th – Colonial and Hutchinson Schools

Last names beginning A-L 9:00am-12:00 pm

Last names beginning M-Z 1:00pm-3:00 pm

January 30th – Prospect Hill and Siwanoy Schools

Last names beginning A-L 9:00am-12:00 pm

Building access:

Please use the entrance to the High School at 575 Colonial Avenue.

Parking:

Please be advised that the following sites are available for parking: Nyac and Corlies Avenue, north of Boulevard only. We suggest car-pooling, if possible.

Please do not park in any of the numbered spots dedicated to the professional staff in our parking lots or in reserved permit parking spaces on the street. Please observe all street regulations as vehicles will be ticketed if parked illegally.

May orientation/Fall kindergarten screening:

Our instructional staff will be available to discuss the kindergarten program in May. In addition, you and your child will be invited, by appointment, to visit the kindergarten program and to meet with the kindergarten team at your homeschool. The kindergarten teachers will spend some time with your child, observing his/her interaction and completing a preliminary screening. A more in-depth screening by the speech/language teacher, resource room teacher and kindergarten teachers will be done in September when youngsters are more familiar with the school.
