Pelham Superintendent Cheryl Champ updated the board of education on progress on this year’s goals during the board’s Jan. 8 meeting.

The superintendent reviewed the five pillars of the board’s goals for the 2018-19 school year, the goals that had previously been set and the progress that had been made. This included updates on professional development, support networks and social-emotional development.

Discussions of advancement of the International Baccalaureate curriculum, as well as the introduction of more project-based assessments are in the exploratory phase.

There was also a review of the upcoming budget meetings and the criteria for formulating the budget, which include the tax cap and bond spending.

The board voted 7-0 to accept Champ’s recommendation to hire Julia Chung as assistant superintendent for pupil personnel services. Chung will begin in the district on March 4.
